Via লাতিন Zēno, from প্রাচীন গ্রিক Ζήνων (Zḗnōn), an ancient derivative of Ζεύς (Zeús) from প্রত্ন-Hellenic *dzéus, from প্রত্ন-ইন্দো-ইউরোপীয় *dyḗws. Modern scientific and philosophical use derives from Zeno of Elea, poser of Zeno's paradoxes.
