Ἰδάνθυρσος
প্রাচীন গ্রিক[সম্পাদনা]
ব্যুৎপত্তি[সম্পাদনা]
From প্রত্ন-Scythian *Hiθāmθrauša (literally “prospering the ally”). Final part possibly modified into -θυρσος (thyrsus, the composite vegetal wand of Bacchus), in গ্রিক because the ancient গ্রিকs associated Scythian peoples with Bacchic rites.[১]
Compare with প্রাচীন গ্রিক Ἀγάθυρσοι (Agáthursoi), from প্রত্ন-Scythian *Haxāθrauša (literally “prospering the friend/socius”).
