ব্যুৎপত্তি[সম্পাদনা]

From ধ্রুপদী ফার্সি مرد(মরদ), which is from Middle Persian mlt', GBRA, from Old Persian 𐎶𐎼𐎫𐎡𐎹, from প্রত্ন-ইরানীয় *mŕ̥tah, from প্রত্ন-ইন্দো-ইরানীয় *mŕ̥tas, and ultimately from প্রত্ন-ইন্দো-ইউরোপীয় *mr̥tós, from *mer-; whence also মরা, and মরদান.

Cognates include তুর্কি mert, Northern Kurdish mêr, সংস্কৃত मर्त (মর্ত), Old Armenian մարդ (mard), প্রাচীন গ্রিক βροτός (brotós), ইংরেজি mortal and also with লাতিন maritus.
