[সম্পাদনা]Unknown. Some derive it from সংস্কৃত वकद्वीप (ৱ৽ক৽দ্ৱীপ৽, literally “crane-island”), a compound of वक (ৱ৽ক৽) + द्वीप (দ্ৱীপ৽), but Chatterji claims this to be phonologically inadmissible. Chatterji inconclusively suggests the potential derivation of সংস্কৃত व्याघ्रतटी (ৱ্য়াঘ্র৽ত৽টী, literally “tiger-coast”), a compound of व्याघ्र (ৱ্য়াঘ্র৽) + तटी (ত৽টী); such a word would have gone through the hypothetical medial phases of লুয়া ত্রুটি মডিউল:parameters এর 647 নং লাইনে: Parameter 2 must be a valid language, etymology language or family code; the value "inc-pra" is not valid.
