[সম্পাদনা]Syncopal এবং umlauted form of earlier দইয়াল, itself H-dropped from earlier দহিয়াল (literally “covered in yogurt, one who sells yogurt”); এর উৎস সংস্কৃত दधिपाल (দ৽ধিপাল৽), a compound of दधि (দ৽ধি) + पाल (পাল৽)। তুলনীয় অসমীয়া দহিকতৰা (dohiktora)। দইওয়ালা শব্দের জুড়ি।
