ওলন্দাজ doop (“গাঢ় ডিপিং সস”) থেকে, ওলন্দাজ dopen (“ডুবানো”) থেকে, Middle Dutch dopen থেকে, Old Dutch *dōpen থেকে, Frankish *daupijan থেকে, Proto-Germanic *daupijaną থেকে।
